Landscapes of the Body

These drawings are made in series of five.  Each work in the series represents one or two inches of skin from a particular person.  These people are photographed from a few inches away.  The photograph is blown up and a portion is chosen.  I then grid out the paper and slowly build up the layers of graphite until each grid is satisfactory and a topographical landscape begins to take shape.

Just as there are many aspects to one's personality, each drawing in the series represents a small portion of that person and perhaps sheds a bit of light on who they really are.
